While working on a large modular environment project, I found that manually creating, naming, and exporting LODs for every single asset was incredibly repetitive and error-prone. To solve this pipeline bottleneck, I built LOD Architect - a Blender add-on designed to automate the entire LOD pipeline in one click, from generation to engine-ready export.
Features:
Generate LOD0–LOD4 for multiple meshes simultaneously
Live LOD Inspector with real-time stats - tri count as you tweak
Non-destructive workflow - Decimate modifier stays live for tweaking
Ability to decimate LOD0 for aggressive polygon budget control
Auto pivot correction - snaps pivot to bottom center automatically
Normal Transfer and Weighted Normal support for clean shading on decimated meshes
Unreal Engine mode - automates LodGroup hierarchy, SM_ prefix, and correct FBX axis settings
Unity and Godot mode - correct axis settings for seamless imports
Export format support - FBX, OBJ, and GLTF
Batch export selected or all LOD groups at once
Source mesh preserved and organised automatically
Tested on Blender 3.6 LTS, 4.2 LTS, 4.4, 4.5 LTS, and 5.1
